JUNIOR STATESMEN FOOTBALL CLUB 2016
PROGRAM: The Junior Statesmen Football Club is a non- profit organization run as a private organization unrelated to, but hopefully to the future benefit of Webster Groves High School Football Team. The Jr. Statesmen Football Club serves as a feeder system for the Webster Groves High School tackle football program.
PARTICIPANTS: Boys who will be in the 6th , 7th, and 8th grades for the 2016-2017 school year presently in the WGSD, or residing in the attendance area and planning to attend Webster Groves High School.
REGISTRATION: 1) Register by mail beginning today, 2) during the summer camp July 18th -21st at Hixson, 3) on ‘equipment issue’ day Thursday, July 28th at Hixson , or finally, at any practice starting August 2nd , Hixson at 6pm. Please see attached registration form and return ASAP. We don’t make ‘cuts’, but we do ‘cut-off’ registration at team limit. Summer camp registration is 5:30 p.m. at Hixson July 18th, camp cost is $25.00.
FEES: A $215.00 participation fee per player will be collected at registration; a $150.00 separate escrow-deposit will be collected at the time of equipment checkout and held pending return of all equipment at the conclusion of the season. (Fee break down: equipment $225 per player, officials $3,300, footballs $35 per ball, field fees, equipment reconditioning $25 per helmet/$10 per shoulder pad, uniform replacement/upgrade, general liability insurance, coaching aids & equipment, and playing field and scoreboard maintenance. )
INSURANCE: Each player must provide a “proof of insurance” prior to participation in the program. JSFC does not provide player insurance of any kind.
PHYSICALS: A physical and/or medical release must be turned in prior to any player being allowed to practice. Wording from doctor must indicate – “physically fit to play contact sports – or -- tackle football.”
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT: Parents of Jr. Statesmen football players are encouraged to participate in the Webster Groves Statesmen Booster Club and to volunteer for some of the parent-established committees to support the football organization…scoreboard operators, concession, or banquet.
EQUIPMENT: Equipment check out is Thursday, July 28th from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The program will provide all safety approved equipment including, helmet, shoulder pads, hip, thigh, tail and knee pads as well as practice and game pants and jerseys; each player must furnish their own mouth piece, one-piece molded-cleat shoes, and supporter/cup.
COACHES: Volunteer coaches for the program are selected by and under the supervision of the JSFC Program Directors and Leadership group. Many are WGHS football alumni ‘giving-back’ to the program.
PHILOSOPHY: To teach the same individual skills and team concepts as those employed in the Webster Groves High School Football Program; each player will learn at least one offensive and one defensive position, as well as special teams.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Practice will begin Tuesday, August 2nd from 6:00p.m-8:00p.m. at Hixson Middle School. Practices will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening throughout the season.
GAME SCHEDULE: Season runs from the first Saturday after Labor Day to the first Saturday in November. All games are played Saturday morning. Home games are @ Steger. Away games vary year to year: Oakville, Mehlville, Kirkwood, NorthwestHS, Ladue, Parkway South, Lindbergh, etc.
